Passion: it starts with you

Passion: it starts with you

Passion… A strong and barely controllable emotion that is most commonly experienced with another person or when doing something that completely excites you.
With undoubtedly one of the most passionate days of the year on the horizon, I have been thinking a lot about the importance of passion; the immediate answer to me is because life should be spent doing the things you love, with people you love and who love you back.
It is so vital to have all sorts of passion in our lives, because this is what makes us tick and enables us to be the best version of ourselves. Feeling passion is when you have endless feelings of enthusiasm, happiness, ambition, electricity etc. You know you are living a passionate life when the thought of a new week or waking up in the morning doesn’t fill you with dread and when you’re passionate you are not tired, you’re not ill and you’re most likely not unhappy! This is because the positivity that surrounds you is attracting more and more positivity… Ultimately this is what we’re all searching for, right? When you have a passion you are also able to break through challenges and the difficult times in order to become better at that specific something.I’m a firm believer in that if we’re wanting something to enter our lives, we have to be feeling it for ourselves first.

What we feel and think we attract, which leads nicely onto asking the question, “Have you ever thought about feeling passion/passionate for yourself?” In order to bring passion into your life you need to start getting passionate and it starts with YOU. Get passionate for who you are, what you enjoy and who you love, open up the flow of passion. Let me help you find ways to focus on your own passion:
Self care this can be from tidying your living space to giving yourself a good-quality exfoliate and moisturise (I always find that using a salt scrub is the best for exfoliation and coconut oil for moisturising) or un-plugging from all things electronic for an evening; instead pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read!
Self love – the term ‘the love you feel for yourself is the mountain block for everything in your life’ is something that I make such an effort to abide. Just like I mentioned above with the flow of passion, the love has to start with you in order to be able to give it to and receive it from others. A good place to start is by making a list of all of the things in your life that you appreciate, this helps us to remember that whatever our circumstances, we do have a lot to be grateful for.
Self aware you need to spend some time in your head, quietening the noisy voice that can override so many of our lives. Breathe. Meditate. Make yourself a cup of Bodyism ‘I am relaxed’ tea and affirm ‘All my senses are finely tuned into this moment.’
Self cleanse your life of all the things that aren’t giving you the pleasure you feel you deserve. This can be anything from toxic people or junk that’s lying around your home, to the foods you’ve been eating that haven’t been serving you or your digestive system well… and perhaps pick up the Bodyism detox box whilst you’re at it!

Passion is also so commonly linked to what we do in our lives, career-wise. Finding and fulling a passion in this sense has got to be one of the hardest things; especially when realistically measuring up what we love doing and then what sort of income is feasible for the life that you lead. Searching for passion requires copious amounts of strength, effort and time and to find exactly what it is and often it takes digging so deep into who you are. Realistically you’re going to be working for 20+ years, that’s a long time to be slogging it out in a job that doesn’t fulfil you. You need to be engaged, doing something that you feel truly passionate about – and actually it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to get there but ensure that you’re doing everything in your power to move forward on this journey.
A few tips / questions to ask yourself:
– “What are the three things in my life (minus my family) that I couldn’t imagine living without or not doing again?”
– “What would I be doing with my time if money was abundant and I only had to work for fun?” (One of the most common things that stops people from doing what they actually want to do is money, but if you’re following your passion, you are in a position to be incredibly successful – even if it takes some time and you’ll find yourself abundantly rich in many other ways.)
– “How can I merge what I enjoy doing when I’m ‘not at work’ with a career?”
– Dig… Really deep… And deeper and deeper into yourself, until you think you’re at the bottom and then go further. Perhaps the answer is right there, staring you in the face? It only has to come from the tiniest inkling of a feeling, things can then snowball off the positive energy you pour into that one thought or feeling.
– Set your daily intention to “Today I intend to actualise my dreams.”Once found, remember that your passion has no shelf life, it is important to never let go of what it is you love because in doing the things you love, you are electric and attract love.
