Bloating is quite simply when you have too much air in your abdomen and can be caused by an array of different things. From high stress levels to poor diets, from the exposure of various pollutants to simply swallowing too much air!
But for many, excessive gas comes down to inadequate protein digestion (causing some foods to ferment), the inability to break down sugar and carbohydrates and the imbalance of good and bad gut bacteria (caused by taking antibiotics. I’m going to focus on the imbalance of gut bacteria because there are some simple steps you can take to help heal this.
The first is to take a good probiotic, daily (I take USANA probiotics, which are the best I’ve come across but everyone is different and I know that Ultimate Flora are great too). I can’t tell you the difference it makes and there’s nothing more satisfying to know that you’re enhancing the health of your gut!
Secondly, make a conscious effort to add these foods to your diet where possible: kefir, yoghurt, sauerkraut, kimchi and all coconut products!
Thirdly, manage your stress… Because stress wreaks havoc on your gut.
Ps. Stay away from antibiotics…
