I strongly believe that it is right to be promoting our vegetable and fruit intake, but if we’re going by the rule of ‘we are what we eat’ then do we really want to be ingesting the pesticides and synthetic substances found in non organic food? Probably not.

But we all have to budget and often the budget doesn’t allow for a solely organic diet so here are some tips and some of the complete ‘non-organic no-go’s’.

Make sure that you are rigorous about washing all of your non-organic fruit & vegetables before eating/cooking with.

Dirty Dozen

– these are the ones that ideally you want to buy organically

Apples
Celery
Sweet bell peppers
Peaches
Strawberries
Nectarines
Grapes
Spinach
Lettuce
Cucumbers
Blueberries
Potatoes

Clean Fifteen

– these fruits & veg you can get away with not being organic as most of them you will remove the outer layer
Onions

Aubergine

Cantaloupe
Sweet potatoes
Grapefruit
Watermelon
Mushrooms
